Rudy Fernandez did not travel with the team to Phoenix on Saturday and will not play Sunday night during a nationally-televised Western Conference matchup against the Suns at US Airways Center.
Trail Blazers guard Fernandez strained his left quadriceps during the Blazers' 76-74 victory over the Washington Wizards Friday night and played just under 14 minutes. Before the game, Fernandez was in the midst of the best-shooting streak of his career, having made 15 of 23 three-point attempts during a five-game run.
After Sunday night's game, the Blazers do not play against until Thursday, when they face the Dallas Mavericks at the Rose Garden.
Fernandez is averaging 8.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game this season in 51 games. He ranks second on the team with 84 three-pointers and is shooting 38 percent from three-point range.
