Timofey Mozgov: "I don't think you have to consider that a percentage of success depends on a particular player, all 12 have to do their best, only then will you get the result"

Timofey Mozgov, represented by You First Sports, is at the midpoint of his career and by now he has discovered what the key to success is in basketball. Having retired from international basketball after the London Olympics, Andrei Kirilenko will not be representing Russia at the Eurobasket in Slovenia this September, and Mozgov has come out saying that his country's success is not dependant on one or two players.
The Russians captured the bronze medal at the last Olympics and the 2011 Eurobasket, but a change in management, with Fotis Katsirakis taking over from David Blatt, and a shifting of the old guard, with Viktor Khryapa's participation unclear, means that many are doubting that they can come away from Slovenia with any silverware later this year.
"It's not the first time I've been asked this question. Once again I consider Andrei a great player, and Khryapa is also very strong but basketball is a team sport", said Mozgov when asked about Russia's chances without their two star players. He went on to stress the importance of the team as a unit: "I don't think you have to consider that a percentage of success depends on a particular player, all 12 have to do their best, only then will you get the result".
Having been guided by David Blatt for so many years, the Russian team as a whole, and Tomofey Mozgov in particular, knew what was expected of them, but what does the center from Krasnodar know about his new coach, Katsikaris? "Practically nothing. I'm personally not familiar with him, we've only talked over the phone", said the Russian, who also stated that the Greek manager struck him as "good, educated and a thoughtful person" in those telephone conversations.
Russia are drawn with Italy, Greece, Finland, Sweden and Turkey in Group D of the Eurobasket which takes place from the 4th to the 22nd of September in Slovenia.

The stage is set for the final of the Polish Basketball League, and for the first time since 2003 the winner will not be Asseco Prokom, as PGE Turow Zgorzelec and Stelmet Zielona Gora will battle it out for title. Both teams head into the final on the back of convincing wins in the semifinals, with Turow defeating Anwil Wloclawek 3-1 and Stelmet whitewashing Koszalin 3-0.
Amongst the players fighting to lift the trophy will be four You First Sports clients. On one side, Russell Robinson, who has averaged 11.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game, will be defending the interests of Turow after signing for the club earlier this year. And on the other, Quinton Hosley, who has averaged 15.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.4 steals, Walter Hodge, who has averaged 18.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 4.7 rebounds and Lukasz Koszarek, who has averaged 11.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 7 assists in the 16 games he's played since joining Stelmet from Asecco Prokom, will do their best to claim their team's first Polish title.
The best of seven series kicks off this Sunday the 26th of May in Zgorzelec.

An overtime victory yesterday by 103-91 against defending champions, Chalon, was enough to settle the series 2-0 and give Nanterre a place in the Pro A final. It will be the first time the men in green and white take part in the championship game, having been promoted to the top tier of French basketball only two years ago.
Nanterre have been led to the final by coach, and You First Sports client, Pascal Donnadieu, who also has two other You First Sports clients amongst his roster: Frenchman, Marc Judith, who has averaged 3.1 points, 1.1 assists and 2.2 rebounds this season, Colombian center, Juan Palacios, who has averaged 7.9 points, 1.2 assists and 4 rebounds and the American, Trenton Meacham, who has averaged 12.2 points, 2.7 assists and 2.3 rebounds.
The other finalist will come out of the duel between Strasbourg and ASVEL.

You First Sports client, Earl Rowland, has been selected as the best perfoming Bulgarian player in a foreign league last week. The point guard plays for VEF Riga in the VTB United League, and although his team was soundly beaten on the road to Khimki at the weekend, Rowland put in a brilliant display which earnt him this accolade.
The You First Sports client was the top scorer with 20 points, backing this up with 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 25 minutes on the court. The naturalized American is completing a very solid season with averages of 16.3 ppg (2nd in the league), 5.5 rpg, 5.4 apg and 1.9 spg.

Oklahoma City Thunder's power forward, Serge Ibaka, has been named on the NBA All-Defensive First Team for the 2012-13 season. The voting panel consists of the NBA's 30 head coaches and the You First Sports player is joined by LeBron James, Tony Allen, Chris Paul, Tyson Chandler and Joakim Noah, forming a team of six as the last two received the same amount of votes.
